"Flew into Sarawak and went straight for supper the moment we touched down — no time wasted when food is calling... First stop: a cozy Ceylonese spot that completely delivered. The cheese naan came out hot and fluffy, stuffed generously with gooey cheese — pure comfort in every bite. The tandoori chicken was smoky and juicy with just the right char, while the mutton was rich, tender, and full of deep, aromatic spices. And then the appam… soft in the center with those crispy lacy edges — perfect for soaking up all that delicious curry. Honestly, after a flight, this kind of supper just hits differently."

"I don’t say this lightly — this place became my comfort spot in Kuching. Out of the four days I stayed in Kuching Sarawak, I had at least one meal here every single day. That should tell you something. The hospitality? Warm, friendly, genuinely welcoming. The owner and his assistant are incredibly attentive. They actually ask about your spice tolerance, your preferences, your comfort level — and adjust the dishes accordingly. That kind of consideration makes all the difference. Now let’s talk about the food. Teh Tarik — easily one of the best I’ve had. The tea quality is superb, perfectly pulled, rich and comforting. Cheese naan — stuffed generously with cheese. Yes, it’s processed cheese, but this is indulgence done right. Pair that with the curry it comes with and you’ll understand why I kept going back. We even ordered a side of prawn masala, which was excellent — but honestly, the curry that accompanies the naan itself deserves its own spotlight. Masala chai — pure comfort in a cup. The weather in Kuching was cloudy and slightly hazy during my stay, and this chai felt like it was made for that mood. Lamb shank biryani — outstanding. The rice was fragrant and generously loaded with cashews and raisins. The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender with beautifully balanced masala. It came with papadums, chutney, sambal, and a sweet on the side — a complete, satisfying plate. Appam set — if you’ve never had appam, start here. Crisp edges, soft fluffy center. It was perfect. Chicken tikka and tandoori chicken — both done beautifully. Juicy, well-marinated, and paired with fresh mint sauce and tomato chutney that elevated everything. This wasn’t just good food. It was consistent. Every single time. If you’re in Kuching, make the time. I’d recommend it without hesitation. You won’t regret it."

"If you’re looking for a place that delivers both exceptional food and warm hospitality, Ceylonese Restaurant Sdn Bhd is an absolute must-visit. From the very first bite, it’s clear that this place takes pride in its offerings. Their cheese naan is hands down one of the best—perfectly fluffy with a rich, gooey cheese filling that’s simply irresistible. The lamb shank briyani is another standout, featuring tender, fall-off-the-bone lamb paired with fragrant, well-spiced rice that’s deeply satisfying. For something crispy, their thosai is beautifully done—light, crisp on the edges, and served just right. The mutton soup is hearty and comforting, packed with robust flavours that feel both nourishing and indulgent. And don’t miss the Ceylonese fries—crispy, addictive, and bursting with unique spices that keep you reaching for more. What truly elevates the experience, though, is the service. The boss is incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate about the food, personally checking in for feedback. Even more impressive is his sharp memory—he remembers customers and their preferences, adding a thoughtful, personal touch that’s rare to find. All in all, this is more than just a meal—it’s an experience. Great food, generous portions, and heartfelt service make this spot a gem worth returning to again and again."

"Really delicious and authentic food and the portion size is extremely generous! We ordered lamb shank briyani in banana where the spice flavour is just nice; the honey lamb curry goes perfectly with the plain naan, simply mouth-watering. The ice lemon tea here is also freshly brewed! The waiters here speak Malay, English and Chinese, all of them are super pleasant! We asked to be transferred inside due to heavy rain while waiting for the food and the request was immediately met!"

"I visited Ceylonese Restaurant, the one at Jalan Green Hill. I was told there is another outlet in Matang. The place may be a little hidden, but thanks to word of mouth and its strong reputation, it has become a favourite among Kuching folks. This was my first visit, and I was genuinely impressed. The food is delicious-delicious. The kind that stays on your mind. The double cheese naan is unbeatable, the banana leaf–wrapped briyani is wonderfully fragrant, and the dosai is excellent. The service is equally commendable. The staff are friendly, polite, and very accommodating. The owner himself is exceptionally courteous and goes from table to table to ensure diners are comfortable. Something you do not often see..... Prices and portions are commendable. I will definitely be visiting again..... Bon Appetit!"

"We came here mainly for their famous cheese naan after watching those videos showing the endless cheese pull. Luckily, we ordered the normal cheese naan because honestly, if we had ordered the triple cheese version, I am not sure how much longer we would still be pulling the cheese. Maybe all the way to the second floor. The food was good and creative overall, although we did not get the chance to try many other dishes this round. Definitely a good reason for us to come back again. One more thing, the boss’s red Ferrari parked outside looked super cool… until I sprained my ankle walking into the restaurant. Perhaps the boss can consider repairing the uneven road surface too, since the Ferrari is already shining so brightly there! See you"

"Had a really satisfying dinner here. The cheese naan was absolutely amazing – soft, crispy on the outside and packed with melted cheese inside. Every bite was cheesy goodness! The cauliflower dish was a pleasant surprise. It was flavourful with rich spices and tasted very fresh. Definitely a must-try. The chicken tandoori was grilled to perfection – juicy, tender and not dry at all. When dipped into the mint and tomato sauces, the flavours became even better. Personally I would prefer a slightly less red colour, but the taste was still excellent. Service was also top notch. Even with the busy buka puasa crowd, Cindy and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It was also nice to see the owner personally checking that everyone was enjoying their meals. Great food, great service and a welcoming atmosphere Definitely coming back again for more yummy food"
